The House & Collections Manager at Chirk Castle requested a special project to show the Castles books in a secure case.
Working closely with the curators at Chirk and other National Trust properties, a design was finalised and the case was made with controllable internal lighting which eventually had to be sourced in America.
The case, made in seasoned Oak from Powys Castle estates wood mill and an internal shell of American Poplar, was internally lined with specialist fabrics and materials to prevent any internal gasses forming which could have any long term effect on the books.
